What changes the cost of installing a kitchen?
Kitchen installation cost depends on more than the total number of cabinets. Product construction, worktop details, appliance requirements and the existing room all influence the work involved.
BuildBot gathers these details through guided questions. If you upload a kitchen plan, it can use visible layout information to reduce unnecessary questions while still asking you to confirm anything unclear.
Cabinet quantity and construction
The number and type of base, wall, corner, drawer, tall and appliance-housing units influence fitting time. Flat-pack cabinetry may also require assembly before installation.
Worktop material and detailing
Worktop length, joints, sink or hob cut-outs, upstands and layout affect the work required. Specialist stone, timber or complex fabrication may require separate checking.
Appliance fitting
Integrated appliance housings, cooker hoods, water connections and suitable electrical supplies influence what can be included within the controlled installation estimate.
Existing walls and floors
Uneven walls, unsuitable floors, damaged fixing backgrounds or inaccurate room dimensions may require preparation before cabinetry can be aligned and secured.
Plumbing and electrical changes
Retaining suitable service positions is generally simpler than relocating sinks, appliances, sockets, lighting, extraction or other kitchen connections.
Access and installation sequence
Parking, delivery routes, stairs, storage, occupied rooms, waste handling and coordination with suppliers or other trades can affect the programme and final scope.

A combined route that assesses the sink, mixer tap, worktop relationship, existing services and confirmed product-supply arrangement together.
Kitchen worktop replacement
Assessment of a controlled worktop-replacement scope, including known lengths, joints, retained fixtures, removal and standard installation details.
Cooker-hood replacement
A route for a suitable cooker-hood replacement where the hood type, position, electrical supply and extraction arrangement can be confirmed.

The Kitchen BuildBot prepares a preliminary estimate using the information you provide. It cannot inspect concealed conditions or confirm work that depends on the existing property.
Where something cannot be assessed reliably online, it should be reviewed separately instead of priced by guesswork.
Hidden services or damage
Concealed pipework, wiring, damp, weak floors or damaged surfaces may only become clear after inspection or careful strip-out.
Major service alterations
Moving drainage, sinks, appliances, electrical supplies or gas services may require a closer review of routes, capacity and access.
Structural changes
Wall removal, enlarged openings and other structural alterations require separate assessment. The calculator is not a structural survey.
Specialist products
Bespoke cabinetry, specialist appliances and complex worktops may require confirmed drawings, product specifications or supplier quotations.
Restricted access
Parking, upper-floor delivery, limited access and protection within an occupied home can affect handling, sequencing and programme.
Connected building work
Extensions, wall removal and wider room renovation should be reviewed as one coordinated project rather than an isolated installation.

02 Does the estimate include VAT?
The BuildBot estimate is shown excluding VAT. Check the VAT basis before comparing it with another quotation or a published cost range.

03 Does it include kitchen units, appliances and worktops?
Do not assume every product is included. Read the included scope and Labour, Materials and Products breakdown in your result.
Confirm which items you are supplying and which are included in the estimate. A fitting estimate is not automatically a complete supplied-and-installed kitchen budget.
04 Can I estimate a smaller kitchen job?
Yes. Supported routes include individual tasks such as sink or tap replacement, worktop replacement, cooker hood replacement, kitchen painting, flooring, tiling and kitchen-unit installation.
Describe the work you need. The BuildBot asks relevant questions and identifies the supported scope instead of assuming you want a complete renovation.
05 Do I need a kitchen plan before starting?
You can begin by describing your project. A plan or drawing can provide useful context, but you should check any dimensions and details before confirming them.
The upload supports PDF, JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP files, up to 12 MB. Only upload documents you are authorised to share.
06 Can it price wall removal or major structural work?
Do not treat the kitchen estimate as a confirmed price for structural alterations. Wall removal and changes to supporting elements require a separate assessment and defined scope.
Mention any proposed structural work so it can be reviewed alongside the kitchen project rather than assumed to be included.
07 Is the estimated time range a confirmed installation date?
No. Where a time range is provided, it is preliminary guidance for the estimated work, not a booking or confirmed start date.
Product availability, access, preparation, connected trades and findings on site can affect the final programme.
08 What should I do after receiving the estimate?
Check the confirmed details, included work, exclusions and VAT treatment. Keep the downloadable estimate and identify anything that still needs clarification.
